Saving money on a holiday party may not be as hard a you think. When you consider all of the money you spend during the holidays, it’s great to know that we can indulge in a way that costs less. That’s right, we figured out 5 ways you can save money on your holiday party.
- Plan ahead. The earlier you start planning your holiday party, the better. You’ll be able to take your time in finding the best deals for your party. It’s been my experience that when I don’t plan a party ahead of time, I end up spending more money. Having a solid party plan as far in advance as you can translate into big savings.
- Make a list. Making a list of everything you need for your holiday party is crucial, it will save your from impulse buys, especially at stores such as the Dollar Tree where a dollar here and there can add up quickly.
- Shop Smart. Just because it’s a discount store, don’t assume it will be cheaper than other retail stores. Take your time to shop around. You can purchase decorations, ornaments, wine glasses and serving trays for your holiday party at discount retailers such as Big Lots and the Dollar Tree at a lower cost, but make sure you know where the best deal is. Even though you can’t buy everything at these discount places, you could save quite a bit on your holiday party and you’d be surprised how good some of these items look.
- Take advantage of coupons and sales. There is so much competition out there that retailers are fighting for your business, especially around the holidays and in this economy. The holidays are known for their big sales and promotions; you can save on everything from food and alcohol to decorations for your holiday party. Save all coupons and promotional flyers of items you think you might need for your special event.
- Buy in bulk. You can purchase many items from Costco and Sam’s Club to save money. But keep in mind that some bulk prices are not necessarily less expensive, some items are the same and sometimes even more expensive. Do your homework.
When planning a holiday party, remember, that there are many ways to save money, but it is optional, it takes time and planning. The good news is, if you’re willing to put in just a little time and effort, your efforts will pay off…literally!
